10 Good Habits you Should Adopt Right Now

Habits are in fact mere models of behavior that impregnate over a period of time. Most of you may have heard about the 21-day or the 30-day rule in which if you repeat certain behavior, for example- drinking water, for the particular number of days, you’ll have made it a habit.

No one knows the precise significance of these rules; however, research suggests that if you do something rather often, it’ll become second nature. Starting today, we must adopt these 10 new habits for personal growth and improvement.

HABIT NO. 1# LIVE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT

We walk right past the beauty of this wonderful world without even paying slightest attention to them. Life is right here in this moment all you need to do is pay attention. I suggest you take the time out to look at the splendid sun, floating clouds in the sky, immaculate stars, and huge trees in your garden.

Make a resolution with yourself, pay attention to your own daily activities like taking a bath, reading a good book, sipping sweet wine, getting a massage, having a restful long night’s sleep, talking to a dear friend. , just pay attention to the beauty surrounds you every day.

HABIT NO. 2# DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Make a morning ritual of drinking a glass of water every morning it helps your body get rid of toxins that have been stored overnight. It helps your digestive tract and boosts up your metabolism consequently making you feel energized all day long. Every time u go to a restaurant or order take away remember to ask for water. Replace your intake of fountain soda for water, this would not only give you health benefits but it’ll also save you some money, without sacrificing the dining experience on the whole.

HABIT NO. 3# DON’T STRESS ON SMALL THINGS

If you are one of those STRESS ADDICTS and you tend to worry about anything and everything under the sky then try this whenever stress overwhelms you, ask yourself, “What’s the worst that might ensue? What is the likelihood of that occurring?” then ask “Am I overrating the risk?”At last ask yourself “How much will this occurrence matter in my life in the coming year—or even coming week?”

Once you sit down and ask yourself these questions you’ll feel relieved from the burden of stressing over trivial issues.

HABIT NO. 4# HEALTHY EATING HABITS

Start buying healthy foods, sounds obvious?? Well, if you start buying foods that are healthy for you and fill your kitchen with these items ONLY then you sort distract yourself from fervent temptation. If your weakness is chips or ice cream, then don’t buy them coz inevitably you will binge on them. My advice is, just don’t add unhealthy food items in your shopping cart, save yourself money and calories.

HABIT NO. 5# CONSISTENT SLEEP ROUTINE

Waking up early (before sunrise) every day is enormously useful for several reasons. When your body is used to waking up at the same time, your sleep cycles adjust consequently. Incorporate this habit in your life starting today and within a week’s time you’ll observe that you won’t even need an alarm to wake up, you’ll just do it by yourself. You’ll awaken without feeling weary or groggy. You’ll find yourself filled with energy and ready for action.

HABIT NO. 6# REMEMBER YOUR EFFORTS AND TRIUMPHS

I persuade you to get into the habit of focusing on your triumphs, inside every obscurity lies an opportunity of incredible learning. Inside every triumph lies a message telling you how to accomplish something and how to move ahead. Your Efforts and Triumphs shape up who you are, don’t allow them to escape. Time and again we have seen that history repeats itself and if you’ve had a predicament once, you will probably face something alike yet again. Keep in mind what had worked for you earlier, keep in mind what didn’t work for you at all your own experiences can be your greatest guru in life.

HABIT NO. 7# BE PASSIONATE BE POSITIVE

How could passion be anything but positive?  TO BE PASSIONATE you need to be optimistic, positive, and hopeful; above all have an enthusiasm for life. Passionate people always prefer the company of positive people. They realize the significance of positivity in themselves and in others. They are equipped with the capability to rebound from setbacks quickly without losing their zeal. I suggest you incorporate the habit of being passionate and positive towards all aspects of life be it work or home.

HABIT NO. 8# DON’T WORK ON WEEKENDS

So far I have advised what habits you need to add in your life, but for this one I am actually asking you to get rid of the habit of working in your off time, I am serious you need to discontinue the habit of working when you’re not at work.

Well, you can make an exception in case of a deadline, but if you try to finish your work after you come home or on holidays then I am showing you a red light on this one. Instead of working you should enjoy with your family when not at work. Changing this habit will keep you focused when you are at work and relaxed at home.

HABIT NO. 9# ADOPT A SPENDING MANTRA

Now when I say spending mantra, I mean a financial rule of thumb. A recent report by behavioral economist Dr. Hersh Shefrin shows that creating a financial mantra to guide your expenditure choices can actually help make us improved money managers.

Although scientists are calling them “heuristics,” not mantras, they work like affirmations because adopting a self-invented personal belief we want to live by, makes us feel accountable if we don’t stand by it. A mantra could be, thinking about any spending habit that you wish to change like spending too much on your thanksgiving day dinner party……..Create a mantra intended to contest it, such as, “I only spend on parties after I have paid my bills or after I save $XYZ.” put it in writing and pin it, or click a picture and make it the background on your phone.

HABIT NO. 10# SMALL REWARDS

In order to stay motivated during holiday season keep rewarding yourself for adding new habits in your life and getting rid of unhealthy habits. Everyone’s reward may be somewhat different. For some, it will be a quick shopping spree. For others, it will be dinner and dance. Make changes in your life be a better YOU and reward yourself for the same.
