Woohoo! It’s a holiday tomorrow and it’s my little man’s favorite day! Nope, it’s not his birthday; in fact, he’s all thrilled and excited about Grandparents Day. My six-year-old loves his grandparents to the moon and back. Whether it’s a game of chess with his nanu or a day spent in the garden with his nani, there’s no other time when he’s this happy.
Isn’t this what childhood is all about – Sharing story time with dadu and dadi, hiding behind nanu when mom is giving you a scolding, asking dadu for chocolates when dad won’t get you any………..the love, care and blessings of grandparents are what makes our early days joyous and playful!
This Grandparents Day I urge all parents to help the young ones shower love and pampering on their beloved grandparents. Here are a few wonderful activities that your kids will love to do with and for their grandpas and grandmas.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s #LoveJatao.
A scrapbook filled with memories
I can never forget that blissful look of love on my parents face when they see my son. There’s nothing more special than to let them relive all those lovely memories they’ve spent with their grandchild. Help your child make a scrapbook filled with pictures of them with their grandparents. You can even help them scribble little messages next to the pictures.
A beautiful letter
One of the most precious feelings is when a child expresses his love for you and no one enjoys this more than their grandparents. Although I probably never told my parents often enough, I make sure my son tells his grandpa and grandma how much he loves them. A beautiful letter written by your child for his grandparents can surely make Grandparents Day special.
A clay figurine
Help your kids make something out of clay, a flower pot or a small sculpture of dadu and dadi. Your child will absolutely enjoy this activity and his little creation would be the center piece of grandma and grandpa’s center table.
Breakfast in bed
Little gestures can convey a lot. A surprise breakfast in bed can make their day even more special. Help your kids whip up their grandparents’ favorite breakfast and surprise them.
