New year is a time when all of us take some moments to look back at our last year and the plan for the coming year. We want the new year to be better than the previous one. Don’t we?
All that was good deserves to be carried forward and all that wasn’t good for our mental health or well-being needs to be left behind. It’s about time to set some personal goals for yourself and achieve them will your heart.
New year deserves new year goals and keeping your promises to yourself is what one must focus upon. Resolutions can be broken but not promises. Promises are meant to be kept and what better than promising yourself a good and healthy lifestyle.
Everyone sets new year goals and resolutions for themselves. Most common resolutions that we hear of are:
- To get Fit
- Stop Smoking
- Wealth Management
- Learn driving/swimming
It is very rare to see people prioritizing their ‘Mental Health’ or considering it as their personal goal. Nobody really talks about keeping your brain healthy and protect it from problems like: Overthinking, anxiety and stress. It’s time to prioritize your life and set goals for months and years to come. Prioritize yourself and your family’s mental health this year.
Here are a few new year goals and promises, you can make instead of the usual resolutions:
- Make peace with your past.
- Get to know yourself.
- Stop comparing yourself to people around.
- Write down a few things that you are grateful about. Show gratitude.
- Learn to ask for help.
- Help others prioritize their mental health.
Our career, relationships and responsibilities require time and effort. Often while paying attention to all other things in our lives, we sideline our own requirements and forget to make time for ourselves. This new year make it a personal goal that is to be achieved time and again. Take care of yourself by not being too harsh on yourself. It is okay to make mistakes, it is ok to choose the wrong people and situations. What matters is how soon you learn to differentiate between right and wrong and how soon can you motivate yourself to let it all go. It is important to let go of people and situations that bring you down, drain your energy and messes with your positivity.
Put aside all the expectations everyone else has of you and focus on what you want and how you feel. Once you learn how to put yourself up on that pedestal, everything else will fall in place. You are your best judge. Don’t give someone else the key to your life. Whatever you want, you will get. Whatever you decide, you will become. It’s time to take it easy and go with the flow. Make sure to always be cautious about your mental health and well-being. Do not forget the well-being of your loved ones and yourself. Let’s pledge to make the saying ‘New year, New me’ come true.
Make 2020 the best year of your life.
