I am blogging about Pathshala Funwala by Nihar Shanti Amla Oil in association with BlogAdda and I’d like to share a very meaningful experience that was made possible mainly because of the Pathshala Funwala initiative by Nihar Shanti Amla Oil.
It started way back in December, on a cold Sunday morning, my son started insisting that we take him to the Ram Leela ground to have a fun-filled Sunday, flying his drone in the open-air. When we reached the ground and took out the drone, to our utter disappointment we found that the remote didn’t have any batteries.
So we packed the drone up and thought we’ll head back home, but noooooooooooo our five-year-old wouldn’t have any of it and as expected he started with his tantrums. All our pleading was to no avail and with no other option left we started driving towards the supermarket.
My husband went inside to get the batteries and I sat waiting in the car with my gloomy child. Looking outside the car my son suddenly noticed a boy sitting on the road right beside our car and he got a bit concerned. He asked me – “Mom, why’s this bhaiya studying on the road” and I explained – “My dear, not everyone is blessed with a life like ours, most children today are struggling day-in night-out to get three proper meals in a day, let alone a good education. Under these remorseful circumstances, many children are left uneducated and they are forced to start working for money at a very young age. Even the ones who somehow manage to get an education aren’t getting necessary skills like – English language learning”
My son had a counter question – “Why is English so important mom?”
I explained – “English in today’s world has become the official language for most countries. Around 2 billion people in the world are using this language to communicate on a regular basis.”
I further elaborated by saying – “Seeing as the language is growing in popularity at such an exponential rate, anyone without English language skills would lag behind in school, college and further in his or her career as well.”
I observed that this discussion was affecting my son but then days went by and then weeks and this incident was somehow forgotten by all of us. Till recently, when I saw an ad by Nihar Shanti Amla’s Pathshala Funwala to learn English with a toll-free number 8055667788. I saw this ad and was telling my husband about it, suddenly my son screamed with excitement – “Mom, let’s go to the supermarket and find that bhaiya we’ll give him this number it may help him in becoming a pilot or a dentist, oh no wait…….he can become a DOCTOR!!”
He was really excited and determined to make this happen, he wanted to make a change in someone else’s life and I got inspired by my little child’s compassion and benevolence.
In the end, we did end up helping that child and are still continuing with our journey of helping many more. All we are really doing is just SPREADING THE WORD!
